FINALLY!

About time I update right? Here are a couple pieces I've been working on. And if you haven't noticed already, I'm in love with Swarovski crystal leaves! I'm on the hunt for the beautiful light siam red leaf. So far, not so good. :( But if anyone knows where I can get the red leaf, please drop a comment!

Confessions

Hello! It's been awhile since I've updated. The reason? I'm super lazy. Hehe. I've been working almost 50 hours every week for the last 2 weeks so I haven't find the time to update yet. I've been working on a couple more pieces of jewelry but haven't found the time to take pictures and post them up.
I've got to say, I give major props to other jewelry designers out there. I'm really new to the whole jewelry world (as you may, or may not, know) but I really love the creativity aspect of it. As a graphic designer, we all have to set goals for the Summer to keep our creativity flowing for the Fall, and I picked up jewelry making as my project. I think all forms of art are connected in one way or another. I feel like jewelry making is like another form of graphic design. This past year in school, I'm constantly making layouts, typography projects, and other graphic design related things. It's nice to step out of my shell but still working with materials and things that are somewhat related to graphic design.
For every piece of jewelry I make, I try to think like a graphic designer. I constantly ask questions like, "Will these colors go together? Layouts? Unity? Will the piece itself flow better if I make it a certain way?" I'm constantly learning new things with jewelry-making and still trying to figure out how could I incorporate the things I've learned into my line of work.

This is also my very first time incorporating every crystal possible into a bracelet, and I think it turned out beautifully. Please keep in mind the reason why this bracelet is more expensive than anything else is because it took a lot of time and effort to create. I try to use the highest quality items such as Swarovski Crystals and sterling silver chains. : )

The beginning

Hello World.

Welcome to my jewelry blog. I've been a little nervous about starting a blog about my jewelries but after a couple months of thinking about the name, what I should blog about, etc. I've finally figured it out! : )

To start off, let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Thao, pronounced like towel but without the -el. Lol. I'm a fourth year graphic design student at the University of Utah (GO UTES!) I've always loved every form of art but never thought about jewelry design until I walked into a bead shop one day and found myself mesmerized by everything in the store, but specifically I fell in love with Swarovski crystals. They were hard to take my eyes off of them. Damn sparkly things. =/ But anywho, I started research and had taught myself how to make jewelries. I've been making jewelries for a couple months now and fell completely in love with it. I hope my creations will make you as happy as it made me.
